After the big fire that affected the Resort and Casino of Lago de Pucón in Chile, the local municipality suffers the consequences, since it is estimated that the losses will rise up to 400 thousand dollars because the casino will not be able to operate for at least 3 months.
The blaze has had a strong financial and touristy impact since tourists visit Pucón not only for its attractive lifestyle and natural resources, but also because they want to gamble at the casino.
Although just a month and a half has passed since the gambling center was burned down, the new date for the reopening has already been established. The official reopening is expected for December 29th this year.
Carlos Barra, Major of Pucón considers that even though in the last few weeks the activity of the casino has not been bad “it would had been better if the casino was running as in the old times. I wouldn’t dare to estimate for sure the decrease in the number of tourists who visit us, but beyond any doubt, Pucón is not the same without its casino”, he stated.
